Enclosed vs. Open Trailers
The pros and cons of each so you can pick the right one for your work.
Enclosed trailers
- Protect cargo from rain, road grime and theft.
- Lock up tools overnight.
- Heavier and taller, so they catch more wind.
Open trailers (utility, flatbed, equipment)
- Lighter and usually cost less.
- Easy to load from the sides.
- Great for mowers, equipment and bulky loads.
Quick rule
If you carry tools or anything that can't get wet, go enclosed. If you haul machines or bulky material, go open.
