Bumper Pull vs. Gooseneck
How the two hitch styles compare for stability, capacity and convenience.
Bumper pull
Hooks to a ball hitch on the back of your truck or SUV. Easy to use and works with most vehicles. Best for light and medium loads.
Gooseneck
Hooks to a ball in the bed of a pickup. The weight sits over the rear axle, so it tows more steadily and can carry heavier loads.
Which is right for you?
For everyday work and smaller loads, bumper pull is simpler. For heavy equipment and long trailers, a gooseneck is usually the better choice. A gooseneck needs a hitch installed in the truck bed.
